The Book of Eli

One thing that makes me wants to watch this movie. It is because the name of Denzel Washington is on the cover. I am one of his big fans and I have watched so many of his movies. Say it like Bone Collector and Training Day are my favorites. And then follows with excellent movies like The Taking of Pelham 123 and Dejavu. He has done so many good movies and showing an amazing acting skill. I am sure that many people will agree on this matter.

Plot
This is a story when the world has become a wasteland for many years. The world has become a place without a law. You need to defend yourself, kill or be killed. The story begins with a person known as Eli who has been travelling for 30 years in this lawless land. His plan is going to west where there is the remaining civilization and delivering a book. The book is very important to human kind. He swears to protect the book.

The story begins when Eli is passing the barren road that is belonging to a gang of cutthroats. Eli is showing the skill of killing these gangsters with one sword on his hand. Denzel Washington has excellent appearance as Eli and showing his cool moves to kill the gangs. After that, the story moves on to a powerful gangster lead by Carnegie who is also looking for the book to rule the world. In Carnegie’s place, Eli meets with Solara and becoming his partner during the journey.

You may not know what kind of book that holds by Eli until the Carnegie gets the book. It’s a bible. Perhaps, it is the last bible on earth. That is why it is so important for human kind. At the end of the movie, when Eli reaches his destination, he is brought to an island. This island has become a museum and collects all of the knowledge, arts, and other remnants of human culture before the apocalypse. Only one is missing, a bible.

Conclusion
The story is not the best for apocalypse movie, but it is enough to deliver a good movie, especially with Denzel Washington as a star. This movie is showing some good action, small portion of religious issue and additional morality thing. But I have to warn you that the story is very shallow. If we can make it short, the movie is about a man who wants to deliver a bible to the west. At the end, he reaches his destination and died. Anyway, in overall, this movie is still entertaining for us to watch.
